Saori Weaving – expressions of dignity.

Saori, is a combination of ‘SAI’ which means everything has its own dignity and ‘ORI’, meaning weaving. This unique hand-weaving method was founded in 1969 by Japanese Misao Jo, who at 57, created her own loom and style. This art form allows one to express oneself freely, regardless of age, gender, disability or intellectual aptitude.

At UV our artisans select every thread and complete each piece of woven cloth with sheer determination and pride, expressing their individuality. Each piece is then transformed into key-chains, pouches, bags, T-shirts and coasters – all revealing their abilities beyond their disabilities.
